Vamos a La Playa

Time for the dirty backpackers to give themselves a proper scrub in the sand and surf of Arrial d´Ajuda. Hang on a sec. No excuse required for hitting the beach in our books. Another overnight freezer ride got us to Porto Seguro. Nothing like waking up after little to no sleep at 6am, realising the bus is empty and you´ve arrived at your destination, jumping off before you´re awake and being promptly ambushed by the local tourist officer. Can I please have a pee first and maybe a coffee???!! HSSSSST!!!! (portuguese for ¨oi you!¨) Yes but what about Pousada Canoeras??? (see card plastered to Stu´s head) Very cheap and close to the beach, you can take the taxi there for 15 reals - hmmmm....bargain considering the bus to the beach costs 1! Finally relieved ourselves of our over zealous amigo (we have soooo many amigos in Brazil you would not believe...) to relieve our bursting bladders and managed to order a coffee before he sat down and joined us - are you kidding.

Took the quick ferry across the bay to Arrial, ignored the promised HSSST Taxi Amigo! and hopped on the 1 real combi feeling a little smug if not harrassed. Take me to your beach paradise amigo!

The swaying coconut palms, tropical flowers and much missed hammock outside our beach hut helped us unwind. The pool overlooking the beach wasn´t bad either. Interestingly enough, Brazil´s coastline experiences both the wet season and dry seasons simultaneously depending upon the state you´re in. Something to do with marine currents. Currently we´re in the wet season so some days are more beachy than others but enjoying the tropical feeling all the same.

If we were to continue this blog it would read something like beach...drinking from a coconut...beach....then a bit more beach (OK, understand if all the sympathy gained in the first paragraph is gawnn). A lovely spot. Romantic enough, got Kaz a ¨travelling¨engagement ring, enjoyed the sand between our toes, if not the obvious reminders we're in bug territory now...

Love the Beach Bums

Meal of the week: Cracking pizza, with cheese AND tomoato!!!

Sight of the week: the back of the tourist officer and then the front again 2 days later - quick! hide!

Bargain of the week: 70reals, 60 reals, how about 50reals, OK for our beach bungalow. ($30 AUS, £12 if you want to get silly)
