Goodbye Mendoza

Well the time has come to move on. Think we´ve had our fill of Mendoza so its time to take to the best Semi-cama (yep thats half-bed) night bus across the Andes to Maitencillo on the Chillian coast north of Santiago for a bit of R&R. Took in a tango show to round off our cultural experiences in Mendoza. Fantastic singing and dancing followed by a crazy salsa-aerobics class. Jas-you would have been up the front with Kaz shaking your booty! The Argentinian fulfilled all female fantasies of a stereotypical latin lover complete with long dark, wavy hair slicked back with a pot of gel, tight white pants and to top it off a black mesh shirt strewn with gold chains. Who said culture was dead. (Jas - he would give the zoolander boys a run for their money!) We decided to celebrate our last night with a slap up feed in The Park Hyatt Mendoza. A slap up feed and drinks in Mendoza´s poshest restaurant for a grand total of AU$70 (which half admittedly was drinks) can´t be beaten... I had to drag Kaz kicking and screaming out of the hotel but it really wasn´t her sort off place. Shortly before hopping the night bus had dinner atop one of Medoza´s tallest buildings in a quiet yet fantastic restaurant/wine bar with amazing views of the city and the Andes. Not a bad sunset to leave Argentina by and well worth the bizzare conversation we had with the buildings caretaker two weeks earlier. Yes he was taking us to show us a bar not into the darkest depths of the building, oh and yes the lift doesn´t quite make the floor, but its only two feet short, so mind the step... You will all be pleased to hear Kaz continues to do her bit to support the local handicraft industry by buying a, erm Bikini. But at AU$15 it was money well spent. Now just to work on that tan! |
